Just back from a three day travel to Barot-Lohardi-Swaar. The higlight was the trek up to Swaar village from Lohardi and the stay at the Swaar village. This village is at about 2500m elevation and is covered in snow for about 4 months of the year. There is no motorable road to get to it. Yet there is a forest rest house up there where we stayed. Vishal and Saurabh made a second trip to down to Lohardi to buy vegetables and groceries and Pradeep tau - the rest house care taker- cooked a delicious meal for us. The house had a fireplace, which was perfect was for the cold night. It was heartening to see the govt schools- anganwadi, primary and middle schools in the village. However, the village was not spared from its share of plastic packaging (from potato chips, soap packets etc.) with no proper disposal mechanism. The view of the Dhauladhar range in the distant and the potato, jowar and wheat fields on the hills made a beautiful view.
Barot - about 50km from Mandi
Lohardi - the last village on this route where the bus goes
Swaar - a village of about 50 homes
